This specimen of Tiger Iron out of the banded iron formation (BIF) has been collected, cut and tumbled by us right here in Western Australia. It is the only known area where this rock can be found. 

Banded iron formations are 1.5 to 3.8 billion years old which makes them the earliest known rocks.

In some parts of the world Tiger Iron is also called Mugglestone.
